Mere Christianity…continuing with Book Three

Last week, we tackled over half of Book 3, so this week’s focus will be to complete what’s left in the book.

Focus on Chapters 6-12 with close attention on marriage, roles of husbands in marriage, and pride.

Jason Schubert will lead us this week as we continue on our series.

See you beginning at 7:30 am at The Cornwell Center.  We’ll begin the lesson promptly at 7:45 am.

Peace!

Mere Christianity….Book Three….Here we go!

Two books down; two more to good.  Now, that may seem “easy” but we’re up to one of the longer books within Mere Christianity….Book Three.  There are a total of 12 chapters in Book Three so our focus this week will JUST be on chapters 1 – 5:

  • Chapter 1:  The Three Parts of Morality
  • Chapter 2:  The Cardinal Virtues
  • Chapter 3:  Social Morality
  • Chapter 4:  Morality and Psychoanalysis
  • Chapter 5:  Sexual Morality

We’ll discuss how to break apart the remaining chapters of Book Three when we meet this week.

Please gather starting at 7:30 am….Jason will lead the discussion at 7:45 am.

Peace!

Book 2 of Mere Christianity…..It All Comes Down to Arithmetic!

How many of us have been told over time that in “mathematics and arithmetic” there is one and only one right answer.  There are the best ways to get to that answer, and some ways to eventually get there, and still arrive at the correct solution.

This week, we’re tackling Book 2 of C.S. Lewis’ novel, Mere Christianity.  Just as we were raised with the approach to arithmetic as explained above, so true is it with Christianity.  As Christians, don’t we believe that there’s only one “way” to our Heavenly Father?  And while the other religions might not be completely wrong, they do have some pieces that are right….according to Christians.

Is this the right way of thinking?

Read this week’s lesson…Book 2 of Mere Christianity, then come prepared to discuss the following:

  • In what ways are we challenged by other faiths…or by atheism?  How do we respond?
  • In our lives do we encounter “Christianity and water”?  Do we practice it?
  • What is your testimony?  How do we know that Jesus was not just a “great moral teacher”?

See you on Friday at The Cornwell Center.  Gather at 7:30 am, ready to hear Jason lead us in this week’s lesson starting at 7:45 am.

Never Mind Sunday….this FRIDAY will be SUPER!

Join Friday Morning Men’s Fellowship (Charlotte) this Friday as we begin a new series.  We’ll be studying the C.S. Lewis book, “Mere Christianity”.  Hopefully, you’ve gotten the book already and have started the reading for this week:  Book 1: Right and Wrong as a Clue to the Meaning of the Universe.  As you read and prep for this first lesson, jott down a word, phrase or paragraph from Book 1 that speaks the most to you.  We’ll discuss this Friday!

Gather at the Cornwell Center beginning at 7:30 am.  Jason Schubert will lead us beginning at 7:45 am.

See you then!
