Dropping nets….lifting hearts

Lots of changes coming this week as we transition to the Gospels / New Testament.  After weeks of covenants made, covenants broken, and covenants made again, we find the Gospel of Mark sharing Jesus’ praise of “the time has come….”.

Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, proclaiming the gospel of God, 15 and saying, “The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent and believe in the gospel.”  MARK 1:15-16

But is it an announcement or a warning?

If it was an announcement then maybe the fishermen were following Jesus out of a sense of curiosity.  Or if it was a warning, perhaps it was out of a sense of fear.

We may never know and that’s the beauty of this week’s passage.  Whatever the reason, we learn about the initial casting of Jesus’ net to find “fishers of men”.

Jason Schubert leads us this week on Chapter 12 of our study.  Gather at 7:30 am, ready to dig into our message at 7:45 am.

Also, we have two dates in mind for the Habitat build opportunity in Grier Heights:

-Saturday, OCT 7 (Jason is planning to register)

-Saturday, OCT 28 (Mike is registered)

Pick one or both of these dates if you can!  More on that this Friday at FMMF.

Peace!

  1. Mike, You get an A+ for creativity on the titles of your talks! I wish I was that clever. I hope you have a great time Friday morning with the men there.

How did your meeting go with the other group that was thinking about joining you?

Hey if you get a chance send me a great digital photo of your crew that we can use on the website.

    God bless you Mike. Mark
