Being Thankful!

Quick reminder that we’re not meeting this week.  Please enjoy a joyous time with family and friends.

We all have so much to be thankful for, don’t we?

Thanksgiving also marks our official entry into the Advent season!  We’ll continue with our “People of the Nativity” series on Friday, DEC 1st.  John Ramey will lead us next week with study 2: “Joseph”.

I look forward to seeing all of you in fellowship then!

Have a great holiday!

Peace!

Tracing Genes: Abraham to the Manger

I’m very excited that we’re cracking the “books” on a new series this week, “The People of the Nativity”.  Lesson One traces the genealogy of Jesus, from “father” Abraham to Christ’s birth.  There are three primary sections we’ll learn about as we trace this genealogy:  God’s mercy, God’s judgement, and God’s faithfulness.

Rob Miller will lead us this week as we tackle Lesson One.  If you need the participant guide, please to to the Resources page and download it there.

Reminder that we’re taking the next two weeks off as our “Fall Break”, of sorts.  Mike will be in El Salvador next week followed by the Thanksgiving holiday after that.  We’ll tackle Lesson Two on DEC 1st.  John Ramey will lead that lesson.

Also, reminder that we’ve got spots remaining for individual testimonies AND leaders for lessons three and five.  Please sign up today!

See you on Friday!

Peace!

Announcing “The People of the Nativity” series!

In case you missed this morning’s FMMF, we announced our next series that will start NEXT week, NOV 10th, and will go for 5 weeks.  This series, called “The People of the Nativity”, will align nicely with the church’s advent season.

And we’ll still plan to have one person share his personal testimony throughout the next few weeks as well.  I’ve updated the sign up sheet for those testimonies at this LINK.

The study guide for the Nativity series can be found at the Resources tab on this site.  You’ll also find spaces on the Sign Up Genius link for the personal testimonies for weekly leaders on the new series.  Please sign up for one you’d like to lead!  It should be no surprise to anyone that this self-professed chicken farmer has signed up for Lesson Four titled “The Shepherds“.

Note that right out of the gate we’ll need someone to step up for Lesson One next Friday!

Finally, looking ahead into January 2018, we’ll tackle our first series of the new calendar year, Twelve Ordinary Men by John MacArthur.

Have a great weekend!

Peace!

Really…no homework??

I find myself asking my kids that at least once or twice a week when they tell me they don’t have homework on that particular evening.  My “spidey sense” really perks up when their “no homework tonight” response comes on the same night as Monday Night Football or, more recently, Halloween!

But we really do not have any FMMF “homework” this Friday as we continue with our faith testimonies.  This week, John Ramey will share his story.

Don’t forget to sign up for your own time slot.  We have space available for next week and on DEC 1st.

Lastly, John and I have been talking about our next planned study.  More on that this Friday, but it’s a great tie-in to the Advent season ahead.

See you this Friday.  Bring your coffee and get settled in by 7:45 am.

Peace!

Sharing Stories….

We are officially “closed” with our study on “16 verses….” and we’ve moved on to individual testimonies.  Mike shared his last week to our group and this week, Rob Miller will step up to the podium.  So, bring your coffee and grab a seat.  These testimonies are always a great way to learn from one another, laugh at ourselves, and maybe even realize that we’re not as far apart as individuals than we might realize!

Please gather stating at 7:30 am.  We’ll kick things off at 7:45 am.

Sign up sheet is now available online at this LINK.  Only one person this week…but hoping to get at least two for each of the next planned FMMF dates.

Peace!

It’s a Wrap….take two!

Well…..last Friday was a slight curve-ball.

Our planned speaker came down with the “bug” late on Thursday evening and while he thought he might be able to rebound by the morning, Jon was still down for the count.  We were able to meet with most of the others on Friday but covered a little different ground than planned.

This week, we’ll certainly wrap up the book!  Mike will lead and also share his personal testimony as we lean forward for our next three weeks of men sharing their walks with, to, and in some cases, back to faith!

The general format for the personal testimonies is now available on this website’s Resources tab using the Leadership Ministries format as a guide.  We’ll set up the schedule as follows for the next few weeks:

10/20:  Wrap up current study.  Mike shares his personal testimony (Mike Lenhart)

10/27:  Personal testimonies by two men (Names TBD)

11/3:  Personal testimonies by two men (Names TBD)

11/10:  Personal testimonies by two men (Names TBD)

11/17 and 11/24:  Thanksgiving break.  No FMMF Charlotte scheduled.

12/1:  New study introduced!

Reminder, too, of our target to help with the Habitat Charlotte build in Grier Heights on Saturday, 10/28 from 12:30 pm – 4:00 pm.  This is the final day of this home build with the planned activities shown as “finishing/touch-ups”.  As of Monday, 10/16, there are still 6 open slots needed on this day!

See you this coming Friday!

See the Light?

This week, we’ve reached the end of our study on the Whole Story of the Bible in 16 Verses!  Whew!

Can you see the light at the end of the tunnel now?

Jon Paschal brings it all home this week as we wrap up the study.  Homework is to read the final chapter (Chapter 16), the corresponding study guide section, and think about what the overall study meant to you.

“….seeds……seeds……seeds….!”

Mike Lenhart will introduce our planned curriculum for the next few weeks as well on Friday.

And with these two West Point classmates “teaching” this week, we’ll all be saying “Beat Navy!” by the end of the hour!

See you on Friday starting at 7:30 am.  Please be ready to dig-in beginning at 7:45 am.

Peace!

FMMF Charlotte Service Project Dates….reminder!

We’ve picked two dates in October to “give back” to the Charlotte community; both are builds with Habitat Charlotte in the Grier Heights neighborhood.

Jason Schubert is already signed up for the OCT 7th date (this coming Saturday) and Mike Lenhart is registered for the OCT 28th date.

Information on registering is shown below.  The lead organization on both days is Myers Park Presbyterian Church, but all are welcome!

https://habitatcltvolunteers.force.com/VolunteerGroupSearch

Search by Group Number – 1911

Sat 10/07 is Drywall 8:00 am – 4:00 pm (so far we only have 3 confirmed volunteers and are looking for 12 more)

Sat 10/28 is Finishing Crew/Touch-ups 12:30 pm -4:00 pm

Thanks!

Rounding Third Base!

The third base coach is waving us towards home plate as the schedule is set for the final two weeks of our current study:

  • OCT 6:  Chapter 15 (Romans 3: 21-26) Rob Miller leading
  • OCT 13:  Chapter 16 (21: 1-4) and series wrap-up.  Jon Paschal leading

We’ve tagged, arguably, our two best and dynamic men to lead the team for the last chapters!  And Jon Paschal, who was not available last Friday, said he was “speechless” when I told him the group nominated him for the study wrap-up!  In fact, Jon’s comments were:

“This is like the time my father-in-law skipped the meeting of the Claymont, Delaware Little League Association and was elected president!”

Whatever the analogy, I’m grateful both of these men have stepped-up and stepped-in the next two Fridays.

Focus on Chapter 15 this week as well as the corresponding section of the study guide.

Lastly, I’ll cover a quick format that we’ll use for the 3-4 weeks after OCT 13th, where men will share their personal faith stories with our fellowship gathering.  I’ll schedule those out with the plan to have 2-3 men per FMMF.

Enjoy the week ahead!  See everyone this Friday!

Peace!
